Given the forecast for tomorrow and the likelihood that the winter storm will arrive mid morning, all BH-BL schools will follow the half-day schedule for Wednesday, March 7. Closing early will allow the district to safely transport students home prior to the anticipated height of the storm. A half-day schedule means the high school and middle school students will be dismissed at 11 a.m.; elementary students will be dismissed at noon.
Additionally, after-school and evening events are also cancelled for Wednesday.
Instructional time is crucial to ensuring our students’ academic success, but the safety of our students is also a district priority.
We do understand this change could present a challenge for families, which is why we are providing as much advance notice as possible so any necessary after-school care arrangements can be made now.
The decision on whether to close school completely will be made by 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, depending on the predicted timing of the storm at that point. (March 7 at 5:05 a.m. update: We will not have a snow day. We will adhere to the half-day schedule as indicated above.)
As a reminder, it is best to rely on more than one source of information when it comes to weather-related announcements. For additional information on how we make and share inclement weather announcements, please visit http://www.bhbl.org/Transportation/emergencyclosings_delays.cfm.
Please be reminded that parents who deem roads unsafe for
travel due to weather or feel that the weather conditions are
not acceptable for their child(ren) to attend school should use
their own judgment as to whether to send their child to school
or to transport them at a later time.
